PROCEEDS DISTRIBUTION
Proceeds from this auction, minus the buyer’s premium, were sent by Grand Slam Club/Ovis to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Climate Change, Forestry, Environment, and Wildlife Department. In accordance with Pakistani law, 80% of the proceeds will go to the local communities that protect the markhor, while the remaining 20% will go to the Government of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK-Pakistan) to fund various social and communal projects. This revenue-sharing system not only aids mountain communities in Pakistan but is also a crucial way for hunters to contribute to conservation efforts.
CONSERVATION MESSAGE
By placing the highest bid, the buyers not only secured the opportunity to hunt one of the world’s most charismatic wild animals but also supports the communities that bear the cost of conserving the Markhor and Ibex populations in the remote regions of the province. Hunting is the #1 Conservation Tool.
